 Since 1992 Congressman Mel Watt has served the citizens of the 12th Congressional District of North Carolina. His leadership on health care, quality education, community development, justice and advocacy for the most vulnerable in our society has made him one of the most respected Members of Congress. His legislative record reflects his belief in placing his principles before politics. Mel’s leadership is recognized in both Houses of Congress and in 2004 he was unanimously elected Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. He was recently ranked by a non-partisan group as the most effective member of the North Carolina Congressional delegation.
